Dig out your parachute pants and your prom dresses; tight roll your jeans, hairspray up your bangs and come on down to the best prom in town! Peoria Cabaret Theatre presents The Awesome 80s Prom this Friday, September 24th!
The Awesome 80s Prom is a blast-from-the-past party in the style of Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding set at Wanaget High’s Senior Prom… in 1989! All your favorite characters from your favorite ’80s movies are at THE PROM, and just like on “American Idol”, the audience decides who wins, all while moonwalking to retro hits like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go!” It is the perfect event for Bachelorette Parties, special Birthdays or just a fun night out with friends.
Here is our All Star cast for the September 24th performance

CASTING CALL FOR “THE AWESOME 80s PROM”
Due to the overwhelming success of our initial run, Peoria Cabaret Theatre’s THE AWESOME 80s PROM has been extended for an open-ended run the last Friday of each month and possibly other dates. We will be doing ongoing casting for parts in this interactive comedy. If you are interested in being considered for roles, please email Producer Andrew Driscoll at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are looking to IMMEDIATELY CAST the following NEW roles. Please contact us ASAP for consideration for these roles.
INGA SWANSON –THE SWEDISH EXCHANGE STUDENT -Tall and voluptuous. Speaks very little English, but speaks the International Language of love well.
FEUNG SCHWEY –THE ASIAN EXCHANGE STUDENT– So happy to be in America, Speaks little English.
We are casting replacements for the following roles for future performances.
MELISSA ANN MARTIN – THE HEAD OF THE PROM COMMITTEE– She is pretty and perky and has planned every moment of the prom to perfection. She is from the right family, gets the right grades, has the right boyfriend.
MICHAEL JAY – THE CLASS PRESIDENT- He is the eternal preppy politician and President of the Young Republican Club and the Debate Club. He quotes Ronald Regan, his favorite President, and is always waving and giving people the “thumbs up” sign.
LOUIS FENSTERSPOCK – THE NERD- He is your stereotypical geek with the pocket protector, taped glasses and a Rubik’s cube.
KERRIE KOWALSKI – THE SPAZ- Wears Glasses, headgear, a side ponytail. She carries a cabbage patch doll and is hyper and excitable. She is obsessed with Blake, the Captain of the football team.
DICKIE HARRINGTON – THE DRAMA QUEEN- He is in the drama club and dresses like Boy George, yet he doesn’t understand why people think he’s gay.
BLAKE WILLIAMS – CAPTAIN OF THE FOOTBALL TEAM- The most popular guy in school. He drives a camero and has a wandering eye.
JOSHUA “BEEF” BEEFAROWSKI – A FOOTBALL PLAYER– He is the center for the football team and a bit of an animal. He is dyslexic and a little stupid. He acts as Blake’s wingman.
WHITLEY WHITIKER-THE HEAD CHEERLEADER- She was voted Most Popular, Best Dressed, and most likely to be the next Kelly Lebrock.
HEATHER #1 – A CHEERLEADER- She wears a knee brace from a recent cheerleading accident (which deep down she thinks HEATHER #2 caused).
HEATHER #2 – ANOTHER CHEERLEADER-She got her name wrong on her SATs. Both Heathers are dressed in the exact same dress and live to serve Whitley.
NICK FENDER – THE REBEL- He is antiestablishment and anti-prom. He is at The Prom to disrupt it as much as he can. He’s a menace.
MOLLY PARKER-THE FRESHMAN YEARBOOK PRESIDENT– She is very excited to be attending the Prom as a Freshman. She was only allowed in because her mother is the PTA President and she is taking photos for the yearbook.
MR. SNELGROVE – THE PRINCIPAL- He rules Wanaget High with a strict and fascist iron fist. He hates the Prom, probably because he never got to go when he was a student so many years ago. He will not let this Prom get out of control.
MRS. LASCALZO – THE DRAMA TEACHER- She is warm and welcoming. She hugs the students and gets overly emotional. She is a free spirit.
MRS. LORAINE PARKER-PTA PRESIDENT- She is a prude and a walking contradiction. She urges students to take The Prom Purity Pledge while sneaking sips on her flask all night. (The same person would understudy both ladies).
DJ JOHNNY HUGHES-He runs the dance contests, spins the records and keeps the party going all night long.
If you would like to be considered for any of these roles please email us at email@example.com for schedule and availability.
